Every team in the ACC has at least one win already. No winless teams.
Wake Forest 28, UNC 27. Start was delayed due to bad weather. Tanner Price threw for a career high 327 yards. Wake is on top of the Atlantic Division.
NC State 10 UConn 7 Wolfpack forces 4 turnovers, but Glennon was sacked six times.
Florida State had a running clock in the Savannah State game. It was called in the 3rd quarter because of lightning and the Seminoles were up 55-0.
Virginia Tech beat Austin Peay 42-7, face future conference foe Pittsburgh next.
Georgia Tech and Clemson also won very easily
Virginia won on a last-second missed field goal by Penn State, 17-16. Penn State fans were so irate at kicker Sam Finken’s misses (he missed an extra point and was 1-5 on field goal attempts) that a twitter account was created, @SamFickensFoot: “Just a misguided foot on a full ride.”
Miami got taken out behind the woodshed by Kansas State 52-13. Boston College Beat Maine, and Maryland almost blew a 23 point lead, beat Temple 36-27.
Duke vs Stanford, oh yeah, just wait until basketball season you west coast hipsters. 50-13 Stanford.
and…South Carolina beat ECU 48-10
I have refrained from posting on the Jerry Sandusky case for several reasons. The main one is that, as a father, I can not keep my emotions out of it. I try, but I am too vested. For me, Penn State has always had a special place in my life. When I was about 10 years old, I became a PSU football fan. I’ve known who Sandusky is for about 25 years now. I’ve always thought of Joe Paterno as an icon, and he has always been someone I’ve had the utmost respect for. I remember watching players like DJ Dozier and OJ McDuffy suit up for the Nittany Lions. My relationship with PSU goes back. Way back. I have known about The Second Mile foundation for a long time, and
I knew that when Sandusky retired in 1999 it was to focus more on the foundation that he fathered. To me, this all came as a big shock. My anger and disappointment can not be overstated here, and I can only hope that justice is served. Only, to the kids who were raped, nothing can change what was done to them, and nothing can kill the demons that they now have to deal with because of Sandusky. It isn’t just Sandusky who is responsible, however. It is every single person who knew and did nothing to stop him. Every victim since 1998, when the first investigation into Sandusky occurred, should not be a victim. God only knows how many kids became victims of this monster, and there should be no mercy to anyone who could have prevented them from falling under his power.
So for various reasons, this case just eats at my very core. There are so many things I do not understand. So many things that I know I would have personally done differently than the people who covered this up. That is not my point today, however. My point today is to point you somewhere where you can be blown away by the things that are continuing to come to light. If you do not know of SportsByBrooks, you are missing out. He is now on a vendetta against everyone who covered this story up, and he is bringing the noise to say the least. His latest article exposes how Pennsylvania’s own Governor is involved in the story. It is a long read, but it really details a lot of the transgressions and money trails involved here. Brooks says he will not stop until everyone who was involved is held accountable. I hope that he succeeds on his mission.
