Rashad McCants was back on ESPN’s Outside the Lines responding to Roy Williams response to McCants first interview. This was a live interview with Andy Katz.
McCants, wearing a “Defend Student Athletes” t-shirt. Responded to Williams denial about meeting with him about his grades by saying… “Maybe he’s getting a little old. You know, that’s something that I can’t … I don’t have any control over what he remembers. All I know is the truth. And I’m not up here to lie about anything.
McCants challenged his former teammates to release their transcripts.. “If you want to find the truth, the truth is there in the transcripts,”
Katz asked McCants if he would speak to Kenneth Wainstein, who is conducting an investigation of the AFAM program. “I think [the investigator] should discuss [their academic experiences] with the 16 guys who said they had excellent experiences,”
Then Jalen Rose was brought on at McCants’ request because “Jalen Rose and the Fab Five took the game to another level when it comes to merchandising and likeness, and they didnt receive anything for what they did.”
Rose proceeded to rip Roy Williams
Busy weekend in sports as we head towards Turkey Day and the final regular season weekend of college football.
North Carolina beat Old Dominion 80-20. Both head coaches agreed to shorten the fourth quarter to 10 minutes, a modern mercy rule. Some were calling Fedora classless, dont know why, they had scout team players in and took a knee on a fourth and goal. Cant just stop playing. ( btw, Florida State and South Carolina also won by 60 or more points)
Duke beat Wake Forest 28-21. This sets up a big game vs North Carolina this weekend, they win and they will be in the ACC Championship Game vs Florida State.
Will Jameis Winston be able to play in the Championship Game, and a possible National Championship? We wont find out until after Thanksgiving.
East Carolina beat NC State in Raleigh 42-28. State fans had to endure the “Our State” chants again, and a billboard on Capital Blvd. Some statefans have called for that campaign to be retired.
Duke basketball escapes with a 91-90 win over Vermont. Coach K said they were “lucky to win”.
UNC basketball bounces back with two wins over the weekend, including a 93-84 win over defending champs and #3 ranked Louisville. Marcus Paige had a career high 32 points.
Carolina Panthers won their 7th game in a row, Manning cant beat Brady, Brian McCann to the Yankees, five years, $85 million.
Ice Up, Son!
I’m not going to make a lot of comments about this one. Hat Tip to Backing The Pack (who hat tipped Pack Pride). You just can’t make light of a situation where your player tossed weed and a hammer out the window of a moving vehicle. I sure hope this is a fake picture, but I have no reason to think it is.
As we hoped, this picture is a fake. Here is the real version:
The NCAA will announce the punishment for UNC football today at 3pm.
Great weekend for college basketball fans. Brackets are set, madness begins on Tuesday with the First Four, second round begins on Thursday.
Congratulations to Florida State, 2012 ACC Tournament Champions. First ever ACC Tournament win for the Seminoles. Championship game came down to the last possession as they held off UNC 85-82.
Some ACC Tournament history was made as Leonard Hamilton became the first African-American coach to win the ACC Tournament. Not a bad year for the ACC Coach of the Year. Seminoles beat both of “The Blues” twice and were undefeated in the state of North Carolina.
More about the Brackets after the jump…

Duke and North Carolina, Round 2. Saturday night at 7pm in Durham.
Another must win for NC State at Virginia Tech. Sunday at 6pm.
FSU’s Michael Snaer hit another buzzer beater as the Seminoles secured the #3 spot in the ACC with a win over Virginia
Final weekend of the regular season for the ACC in college basketball. ACC Tournament kicks off next Thursday.
Smaller conference tournaments are already underway.
It was a pretty blah sports weekend from my seat, but there are still some things to discuss. Hit the jump for a few talking points. Continue reading Monday Morning Fodder — February 13, 2012
Hatefest tonight in Chapel Hill.
According to the ACC over the last 75 meetings, Duke leads in points scored 5,858-5,857.
UNC is on a school record 31 game home winning streak. Under Roy Williams, UNC is 4-4 against Duke at the Smith Center, and 4-4 and Cameron.
Mike Krzyzewski is 36-36 vs. UNC and 11-14 in the Smith Center.
Thoughts, predictions, hate…BB Guns and bad backs. The leader of men vs the ol’ coca-cola drinking country boy. Who will prevail?….
I think Duke will definitely come in more focused, especially coming off the loss to Miami. UNC’s size up front will be a major challenge, but will UNC have lapses in play and allow Duke to get hot from the 3 point range? How will Barnes ankle hold up?
UNC 82, Duke 71

NC State (15-5) at North Carolina (16-3)
7PM Dean Smith Center.
UNC is looking for its 11th win in a row against State. It will be their first game without Dexter Strickland, and they have had a week off.
NC State will be trying to get their first win in Chapel Hill since 2003. They are one victory away from matching their total in ACC play from last season, and are currently on a three game winning streak.
In case anyone wants to go to the NC State/UNC-CH game on Thursday night, there are still 442 tickets available on StubHub as of me typing this. Anyone know where Roy Williams’ reserved, extra special, Tar Heel Fan only seats are? There would be nothing better than to see some Wolfpack fans sitting in that section. One has to wonder if Roy would have them removed for having the audacity to cheer for the other team.
What happened to the lost colony of UNC walk-ons? One theory suggests that the walk-ons joined the
seminal Seminole tribe and settled in Tallahassee. Others believe that they died from embarrassment during one of the worst defeats in UNC history. Some say that they tried to return to Chapel Hill and were lost in a sea of FSU fans. Perhaps they moved north to join the real Carolina in Columbia, SC or became ball boys responsible for supplying towels and water for Deivida Dulkys. One day someone may pick up the trail of the lost colony of UNC walk-ons and solve the mystery.
