that has to be a misprint. a BCS-conference school put THAT non-conference schedule together?

  2. Florida blew ass last year.

State’s OOC schedule sucks balls again this year and we will still lose at least one.

    S. Florida destroyed us in the rain at CF about 5 years ago and I am not anxious to see what they will do to State again, as we are at least one more year away from a winning team.

State: 5-7 (2-6)- Tied for last in Atlantic
UNX: 7-5 (4-4)- Another Charlotte bowl.
Duke: 6-6 (3-5)- Military bowl or some other shit game.

    UNX goes 3-0 in state
Doeren starts out 0-10 in ACC play and 2-14 after two years. Ouch.
After it’s big season, Duke begins it’s slide into mediocrity to irrelevancy (ALA Wake Forest)

  3. If State’s QB is decent, they’ll win more than 5 games.

I don’t understand why you think Duke will take such a big step back….they return a lot of talent, and their schedule isn’t all that daunting.

As a new coach, I think you try to build your schedule as you build your team. I don’t think Doeren should take the John Bunting approach of going out, playing the big boys and taking 40 point beatdowns to get ready for ACC play.

  4. I agree State wins more than 5 if the QB is decent, I just don’t see it happening. I know he is a transfer from Florida who couldn’t beat out who has been running that shit-show offense for the past two years.

I think Duke takes steps back simply because they just don’t perform like they did last year. I see a OOC loss (Kansas) and ACC losses to UM, GT, split between Pitt and ‘Cuse, VT and UNX. That’s about how much thought I put into it.

The only thing I like about State’s schedule is that we play UNX last. Screw ol’ TOB’s bitching about it. Now just end the ridiculous Divisions and keep two permanent ACC rivals and it will be perfect.

  5. i can’t believe two people tried to defend that OOC, especially by referencing Georgia Southern…. good lord….

  6. UNX’ really isn’t all that good either albeit better than State’s. UNX really had no choice in playing ND and no ACC team should brag that ECU is on their schedule. Ever.

The defending Coastal Champs can’t really brag either.

  7. Well, durham, this is when I point out that you don’t even make your teams public, so no one knows what kind of OOC schedule they have.

Also, teams typically try to schedule a 1-AA game, 2 games they should win, and one relatively tough game. That’s what State did.

They should beat ODU and GSU at home, they better beat Presbyterian, and the USF game on the road will be tough.

  8. Dan, it is irrelevant who someone pulls for. An autistic child can look at that OOC for State and realize it is embarassingly Charmin-soft for a BCS school.

Even Kentucky, Kansas, Cal and Indiana would think that schedule is weak.

  9. To be fair dan, lil d didn’t accuse you of saying it’s intimidating. He said it was an incredibly weak schedule and clowned you guys for defending it. Which it absolutely is and you absolutely did.

  10. Hold on now, hold on…Statefan is absolutely correct to look at their schedule as an intimidating one. It is to them.

  11. If only State was half as good at scheduling OOC games as UNX was at scheduling their athletes for fake courses.

Just so you guys know, I will be riding this^ train for a looooooong time.

…and lol at the so-called pirate fan mocking a football schedule. Some of us have to play real teams AFTER OOC games as well, ya know?
