So the ‘preseason pick to win the ACC’ is playing on Thursday?
#SAD
Tar Heels should take this in a cakewalk. Is there a better team in the ACC?
Oh, wait…..
re: #SAD
When I saw NC State play FSU on Saturday, it was a microcosm of what I’ve seen from them all year– a lot of talent that frequently does not play with a lot of intelligence and poise. I don’t think they realistically have much of a shot at winning the tournament now that they have to win 4 in 4 days. I think we’re down to Miami or Duke. UNC is improved but doesn’t have the experience or consistency. UVa and rest don’t have the talent level. That said, go Heels!
4 in 4 days is likely impossible, but it’s about as likely as NCSU winning a Saturday matchup against Duke and then a Sunday matchup against UNC.
If the goal is to win the tournament, NCSU is just as well off playing VT, UVA, then (likely) Miami and then the (likely) Duke/UNC winner on Sunday.
Of course, with the way the season has gone, I wouldn’t be shocked to see them playing Sunday…..but I also wouldn’t be shocked to see them on their way back to Raleigh about 5pm Thursday.
Well this UNC team is more of a live by the 3, die by the three team this year. They died bigtime against Duke on Saturday. I will be shocked if they are playing on Sunday.
and the preseason ‘ACC POY’ just got voted to the third-team…
In my bracket Duke is going to beat Wake Forest, UNC and NC State for the Championship.
was that your women’s tourney bracket?
I’m not sure there’s a better day than one including a dook loss, a Kentucky loss, and a UNC win.
Duke wont make it out of the first weekend with that defense. Worst I have ever seen.
I understand K is legend and the GOAT. But K, boobbieee, I’m your white knight, and I say lay off the pressure babe, OK.
Yippee ki-yay, motherfu**ers!see ya next week.
Should be some interesting semis today.
What a freak injury to Hairston, sounds painful too. Split the webbing in between the fingers.
Man… the NCAAT Committee did not have any respect for the ACC this year.
UVA and MD are both out (I really thought one or the other – probably MD – would get in)and Miami only got a 2 seed.
I’m also not thrilled with UNC’s seeding but whatever.
I really think this is a tossup year with no clear favorite, but I’m betting that everybody’s favorite conference (Big Ten) will NOT produce this years Champion.
tourney committee pissed on the ACC…
1) first time a team wins the regular season and wins the tourney and doesn’t get a No.1 seed
2) only four bids
3) two of which got dismissed to the 8/9 games, so they won’t reach the second weekend
I’d almost bet that at least one of the two 8 seeds makes the Sweet 16.
I’d say State has close to no shot vs. IU, so I guess that means Kansas is vulnerable to the Tar Heels?
Why would you say that State has no shot against IU? Indiana hasn’t exactly been playing great lately.
They have close to no shot, not no shot.
I am no basketball expert, so you can ignore me if you want. But my wife likes IU so I happen to catch more of their games than anyone outside of the ACC. It just seems to me like State will have no answer for Zeller on either end of the court and Oladipo is such a great defender that he’ll effectively eliminate one of State’s offensive threats. If those things happen, how will State win? Assuming those things happen could be short-sighted on my part, but they tend to usually happen. Not to mention a much weaker IU team beat State in Raleigh last year, though both teams are different / better so that probably doesn’t mean much if they meet this year.
Of course, being the 8 seed means there’s no guarantee that State nor UNC advance to meet the #1 like all of us good little ACC fanboys assume they will.
UNC against Kansas….played in Kansas City?
eh, at least it will be closer than 40-12 this time…
