Official TSB Super Bowl Prediction Post

This weekend holds the unofficial holiday in the U.S. known as Super Bowl Sunday.  Alcohol will be imbibed, snacks will be munched, miscellaneous beast will be grilled, and Madonna has promised there will be no wardrobe malfunction this year.  If you want to know why this is a good thing, check out Chris Rock’s bit about the last time this happened from his 2004 HBO special, Never Scared.

Oh, and there’s a football game going on too; New York Giants vs. New England Patriots … the rematch that really isn’t.

“But omg you guys, why are we talking about football in the middle of college basketball season, herp derp derp derp??” Because it’s the Super Bowl, dingbats.  Make your predictions or drop your own personal analysis in the comments, if you dare.  Or at the least tell us where you’re gonna be, what you’re gonna be eating, or who you’re gonna be with for the big game.

Enjoy yourselves.

    34-31 Patriots

    I will be drinking.

definitely looks like a fourth-quarter game, with the QB who gets it last (with decent time remaining) deciding it.

Eli has won the last two meetings with late fourth-quarter TDs.

overall, decided by whichever defense can either turn the ball over or have above-average success getting off the field on third downs.

    New England 35-28

I will be watching Law and Order reruns.

    Hakeem Nicks 34
    Pretty Boy 31

I really dont think it will be that high scoring. Giants defense has been really good in the playoffs.

    NY Giants 27-21

Brady can go home and get sympathy from Giselle. (rough life)

    Giants 31
    Patriots 17

Nicks with 3 TDs and 220+ yrds

Brady injured late in the first half after being sacked 4 or 5 times.

Doritos will have the best commercial of the night.
    godaddy.com will have the worst.

Who’s cooking what for the game? I’m making pulled pork bbq and creamed chipped beef. And the bourbon will flow freely.

I like the way Eli has been playing lately, but I’m gonna be pulling for the Golden Boy and the Hoodie to win … the Giants are from New York and everything from NY is inherently terrible, so Go Pats. 30-28.

    Pats by 10 or so.

Eli will once again become Eli and starting hating his own receivers.

As for beverages. We will be enjoying some good local brews, Slammer Wheat and Breakout Stout from Jailhouse Brewing.

Pat, I should send you some.

@Nino, I won’t argue with that. Still waiting on gORSK to make good on his free beer offer.

    saw this on the twitter:

UConn men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun to take indefinite medical leave of absence

If Gronkowski is at least 70% healthy then I think Patriots 31, Giants 28. If he’s really hobbled by his ankle then I think its Giants 28, Patriots 21

So can we say that Eli is better than Brady?

  • avatar Durham

    Eli > Peyton

You should be as comfortable as anyone saying whatever you want Pat, but I don’t think it’s clear cut to say Eli is better than Brady. It’s close enough to make the argument either way, though. I could stake a position on either side and feel pretty good about it.

I guess the magic of Belichick is a thing of the past. And by magic, I mean success due in large part to surreptitiously video taping opponent’s practices.

I don’t think Eli is the better of the two. Not to say he is bad, just that he isn’t as good as Brady. But I know how some folks freak out when you say that the loser of a game (or in this case two games) is better than the winner. I think, however, that Brady’s career numbers back me up.

A good argument could be made for Eli, too. It just won’t be made by me.
