I’m Rich, Butch!

Hark the Sound, of Brinks trucks rolling. With Johnny White selected, the Heels have six players selected as of press time (1400 on Saturday) through the opening of the fifth round. With several players likely to be taken (Quan Sturdivant is going to make some GM very, very happy), the Heels are well represented [...]

Respect.

With the news that RJOW has been released from his scholarship at UNC-R, I’d like to be the first of the Heel contingent to tip my cap to the close of great career. From this light blue perspective, it couldn’t come soon enough. Respect.

Ryan Harrow Leaving NC State

The rising sophomore announced the news today that he plans to transfer to another program.  Best of luck to Ryan Harrow.  While this news certainly deflates expectations for the Pack next season, and depletes the roster at the one, it would be shortsighted to begrudge a kid for leaving after a coaching change.

It [...]

Snoop with UNC players…fo shizzle

Just perusing the interwebs… UPDATE

NC State’s Ryan Harrow is transferring Snoop Dogg posted a picture on his twitter account posing with UNC basketball players John Henson, Harrison Barnes, and Justin Watts.  Snoop is even wearing a Barnes jersey.  Nothing to see here, a group of college kids posing with a music celebrity. Yow Gott Her Man

Gottfried already has a coveted Red Jacket

It has been a few weeks now since Debbie Yow hired one Mark Gottfried to be the new men’s head basketball coach at NC State University.  At first, everyone was surprised, if not shocked by the hire.  No one expected Gottfried to be the guy.  Anyone that says they did is not being intellectually honest.  Not me, not Nino, not the guys at StateFansNation.com, PackPride.com, or any of the national media saw this coming.  No-bah-dee.  At first, I was not sure what to think, other than “at least I know who he is.”  Now that the dust is settling, it is time to give some perspective.  Hit the jump if you feel like it. Thanks for all the great memories Woody.   Turn on the tv for the game,  mute the volume on the tv, and turn up Woody on the radio.  Enjoy!

I’ll Be Back!

Harrison Barnes, codename “Black Falcon”, is returning for his sophmore season at UNC.  He decided to skip the NBA draft and return to Chapel Hill…with one goal in mind.

“As a team, we’re preparing for a special season,” Barnes said in a news release. “My offseason plans are to diligently work on honing my basketball [...]

Stuff to Discuss

Random fodder…

Back 9 at the Masters was awesome on Sunday!  Tiger charging, Rory’s collapse (hitting a ball that looked like it was in someones backyard),  Charl Schwaartzel birdies final four holes to win.  Great stuff.

We talkin’ bout practice!…. TOB takes shot at UNC spring practice attendance.  ”We can count at our school…We [...]

Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch…

For those of you weary of wall-to-wall coverage of the Gottlieb hire at 1983 State University, the Mighty, Mighty Tar Heels kick off the 2012 season with a backyard friendly today beneath the pines.  I for one am looking forward to the Renner-Glennon ascensions on Tobacco Road this Fall. Too bad the forecast calls for [...]

TSB talks Gottfried with Bama Fan Blog

When NC State announced that Mark Gottfried was going to be their next head basketball coach,  a lot of the initial reaction was “Who”?  Now we know a little more about him and his coaching past but we at Thee Sports Blog wanted to find out more.

Gottfried coached at Alabama for 11 years so we interviewed some Alabama basketball fans (yes they exist).  Bobby and Mitchell, two Alabama fans, they run the site Alabama Basketball Blog,  and they gave us some insight on their former coach. Their responses…in Crimson.

Interview after the jump…
