Yeah, so it’s hotter than forty hells outside. This is the kind of heat that straight up melts your cerebral cortex and makes all tasks OTHER than staying cool seem very, very menial. So, instead of scouring the interwebs trying to find you suckas some TYLs from the past to compete with some TYLs from the present I just googled images of something every man stares at when he is out in public on days like today. Hit the jump to see my skillz. Continue reading About our regularly scheduled post…

SEE UPDATE AT END OF POST…
Multiple outlets, including Joe Giglio at ACC Now, are reporting that Maryland athletic director Debbie Yow is the leading candidate to replace Lee Fowler in the same position at NC State. Yow will apparently be in Raleigh on Friday, and at least one source is expecting State to make [...]

So tonight is the NBA draft. Most of you know that I’m a pretty big NBA honk, so you can bet that I’ll be glued to ESPN at 7:30 to see John Wall go to the Wizards with the number one pick, find out is anyone is dumb enough to take DeMarcus Cousins and his baggage and immaturity in the first round, discover if Ed Davis really is a lottery pick, and maybe even see the giraffe on roller skates get picked up by a team in desperate need of a big man. So, in honor of the Association’s draft this week’s OST will recap some of the biggest busts in draft history. Continue reading Old School Thursday

GOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
I can’t believe I’m posting this but it all started at work. I was listening to the World Cup on 99.9. I had initially tuned the dial to hear whatever sports yahoo was on at the time. Low and behold, World Cup Coverage. It was the first time I had devoted any [...]

…or, “How I Thought I Caught World Cup Fever, but a Broad Spectrum Antibiotic Cleared It Right Up.”
It is just amazing to me to watch the world get its collective panties in a twist every four years over the World Cup. I mean, I get the fact that “football” is the “world’s game” and that an international tournament such as this is truly a “world championship” (take that, L.A. Lakers!). So diligently, every four years, I try once again to broaden my horizons and embrace the “world’s game” and get swept up in the euphoria that is the World Cup. And once again, as hard as I try, I come to the conclusion that soccer is just a horrible game to watch and even more terrible to try to understand.
In a nutshell, here are the top 10 reasons I hate the World Cup and soccer in general:

Fish stories told here…
A $15 dollar license can cost you a million when your pulling in a record 883-pound Blue Marlin without one. The 52nd Big Rock Marlin Tournament announced Sunday it is withholding more than $900,000 because a member on the boat “Citation” did not have the required fishing license. [...]

I’m sure you have all seen the commercials and know that Father’s Day is today. I’m a father myself and everything I learned about being a dad I learned from my father, and so much more. My dad taught me all about sports: how to catch, throw, run, jump, shoot, win, and lose. I had a lot of time to do some thinking last weekend and I realized that the lessons that my dad taught me about sports were about sports, but more importantly they were about life too. Hit the jump to learn these lessons. Continue reading A Father’s Day Special

We all know that Utah has accepted their invitation to join the PAC-10 (?) by now. Anyone else find this hysterical? The PAC-10 (?) thought that they could make themselves into the Big West for some reason, and now they are only a little bit better off than they were two weeks ago. They [...]

What says “Dirty, Slimy, Lying, Cheating, Jackleg” more than that picture? Seriously? Let me give you a brief history of Calipari: first he got the HC job at UMass from 1988 to 1996. While there he recruited Marcus “don’t taze me again, cuz” Camby. After he jumped ship to the NBA Nets after the NCAAT in ’96 (a very disastrous move as it would turn out) the NCAA decided to vacate UMass’s tourney wins because Camby took cash and gifts. Continue reading How about this…
