SEE UPDATE AT END OF POST… Multiple outlets, including Joe Giglio at ACC Now, are reporting that Maryland athletic director Debbie Yow is the leading candidate to replace Lee Fowler in the same position at NC State. Yow will apparently be in Raleigh on Friday, and at least one source is expecting State to make [...] So tonight is the NBA draft. Most of you know that I’m a pretty big NBA honk, so you can bet that I’ll be glued to ESPN at 7:30 to see John Wall go to the Wizards with the number one pick, find out is anyone is dumb enough to take DeMarcus Cousins and his baggage and immaturity in the first round, discover if Ed Davis really is a lottery pick, and maybe even see the giraffe on roller skates get picked up by a team in desperate need of a big man. I mean, I get the fact that “football” is the “world’s game” and that an international tournament such as this is truly a “world championship” (take that, L.A. Lakers!). So diligently, every four years, I try once again to broaden my horizons and embrace the “world’s game” and get swept up in the euphoria that is the World Cup. And once again, as hard as I try, I come to the conclusion that soccer is just a horrible game to watch and even more terrible to try to understand.
