Oh wait. Gottlieb would know that. Terrible analogy. My bad.
For some reason Mike Krzyzewski decides to get into it with ESPN’s Doug Gottlieb over something the latter said which is akin to arguing with my seven year old daughter. Via ACC Now:
“He should be an expert on alarmingly non-athletic,” Krzyzewski said of Gottlieb, formerly a pass-first point guard for Oklahoma State. “So I’ll have to take a look at that a little bit closer because it comes from an expert who actually knows what it feels like to be alarmingly non-athletic.
“Actually we’re pretty athletic; we’re just not as athletic as Connecticut. (Kyle) Singler is a really good athlete. Lance (Thomas), Miles (Plumlee). Jon (Scheyer) is not leaping tall buildings with a single (bound), but he’s a really good athlete. But I wouldn’t call us like, this athletic team, but we’re not amazingly non-athletic. And I would rather not get into a discussion with Doug because I have respect of his stature and he should have his arguments with people of similar stature. That would be a good thing.”

So, as I sit here nursing my pride’s many wounds from the weekend, I have started to pondering on the black hole of suck that is the Chicago Bear’s history at the QB position since their Super Bowl XX win in 1986. I mean, anything to take my mind off of 27-28, right? Continue reading Hide the Sharp Objects

It actually began in earnest on Sunday when someone tricked Al Groh into getting in the car for a trip to the AD’s office where his career at UVa was mercifully euthanized.
Today, the big shoe dropped when Notre Dame cut Charlie Weis loose. The buffets in [...]

Good showing there Clemson, Georgia Tech and Florida St.
So it was rivalry weekend in college football and per that tradition ACC Championship game participants Clemson and Georgia Tech took on their respective rivals South Carolina and Georgia while FSU played Florida. It did not go well.
Clemson opened up the game with another C.J. Spiller kickoff return for a TD then proceeded the crap in their orange pants giving up 34 points to a team that might have as bad an offense as UNC. Georgia Tech hosted Georgia and did have the ball down 30-24 with a chance to win but running the two minute offense requires…you know…passing which is a dicey proposition for a Paul Johnson coached team so the Jackets imploded giving the win to the Bulldogs. Then there was FSU who lost in the manner most expected them on Tim Tebow Senior Day in The Swamp. Continue reading ACC Mails It In Versus SEC Rivals

Is it just me, or does it seem like the past four days have seen a ton of things happen in the world of sports? Where to begin? Thoughts on a ton of things after the jump. Continue reading Monday Morning Fodder

Houston,
As we pulled up to our tailgate I noticed our tailgater friends whom we park beside left the wives and kids at the house. I proceeded to get out to ask what gives. He looked at me with a serious stone cold look and simply said “business trip”. I thought yes sir it [...]

The World Health Organization has issued a code red alert. It appears that the international symbol for choking has been changed from:
to the new symbol:
Need we really say anymore than that? What is it about the NC State football team that scares the UNC-Chapel Hill squad so much? Full disclosure here, I did not get to see or even listen to the game as I was making the ten-hour trek home from Thanksgiving at the parents. By all accounts, however, the Tar Heels shot themselves in the foot repeatedly and cost themselves the game. Does that sound about right to you, Tar Heel fan? More after the jump. Enjoy your win. I won’t even mention how tainted it is. Have fun watching UNX in our bowl game while you sit at home and worship TOB. Heels still 8-4 with a bowl game coming up. Tob still doesn’t have a winning season at NXSU yet. Video of State fan assaulting S&P will be [...]

Hansbrough can have Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke lives large in
In a game I thought UConn would run away with, the Duke Blue Devils made me realize once again that smart ball > street ball. The team who had the better fundamentals, most rebounds and the least amount of turnovers dominated and left the more explosive run-and-gun athletic team thinking what happened (?). That same game started with more wins between the coaches than any other Division I game in history. With the all-time series tied at 4-4 it was Duke vs. UConn featuring Mike Krzyzewski and Jim Calhoun. The two coaches have combined to win more than 1600 games, 1648 to be exact and they squared off in an early season battle that ended with thee victory belonging to Coach K and thee Duke Blue Devils. Final score Duke 68 UConn 59. All time Duke 5 Uconn 4 scoreboard = Duke.
